Anxiety and low self-worth suck.

You May Have Found This Site Because …

… You Struggle With Anxiety

You might feel restless, like you need to be moving all the time even when there's nothing to do.

Maybe you’re frustrated that your mind races with negative thoughts, replaying past mistakes and making mountains out of mole hills.

You could be worried because of chest tightness, rapid heart beat, difficulty breathing, headaches, muscle tension, or stomach upset.

You may feel exhausted because you can’t seem to get sleep or stay asleep. Maybe you wrestle with disturbing dreams.

Maybe you experience so much tension when you do things or spend time with people that you avoid them, leaving you feeling unfulfilled.

… You Struggle With Low Self-Worth

Maybe you feel defeated by your inner critic that relentlessly says things like, “others are better than you”, or you’re “just not good enough.”

You might not believe in yourself or feel undeserving of praise, choosing to avoid starting something rather than failing, downplaying your accomplishments, or dismissing complements.

It could be raw and painful to hear even the slightest criticism, leaving you devastated and convincing you that your deepest fears about yourself are true.

Maybe you fear rejection, so you put others’ needs above yours, leading to resentment and feelings that no one ever listens to you.

Maybe you feel lonely and avoid people because you’re afraid of being judged.

What I Offer

  • Flexibility

    Flexibility

Sometimes you get stuck in therapy. It happens. One common reason for this is the method your counselor is using just doesn’t work for you. That’s why I have training and experience in several ways of working so I can adapt to your individual needs.

  • Confidentiality

    Confidentiality

Every counselor is ethically and legally required to offer confidentiality. But thanks to my former career as a software developer, I’m able to offer a greater awareness of potential security concerns and take the extra steps necessary to keep your private data safe.

  • Inclusivity

    Inclusivity

I’m fascinated by difference. It led me to a master’s degree in English with an emphasis in gender studies. It’s led me to a heightened awareness of my privilege when interacting with others. I put a high premium on ways of working that put your experiences and cultural identity in the driver’s seat.

About Matthew Kernicky

I wrote software for over twenty-five years before before I decided to become a counselor. I wanted a career where I could make a direct impact in people’s lives. This practice owes its existence to my passion for helping people on a personal level.
